In the current social context in India, I think Munnabhai rates head and shoulders above the rest of them. May be it is too loud and "filmy" outwardly, but very subtle and beautiful.

Of course everyone has his choice, I did not think too much of RDB.

Jaan-e-maan was very nice. Again, crude outwardly but nice.

I have no business to comment on the rest as I've not seen them. But for me 1 to 5 spots belong to Munnabhai for the sheer skill with which the script writer and director Raju Hirani has projected the timelessness of Gandhian principles. And Gandhian principles are Indian right to the core.

What struck me most about the movie was its similarity to Godfather, both in theme and execution. Besides, I found the character of Aiswarya Rai very thought-provoking, my early thoughts on it here:
 http://sententiavolucris.blogspot.com/2007/01/of-pastel-amazons.html

As far as the climax is concerned, it was a plain damp squib, calling it deus ex machina almost glorifies it. The difference between Martin Scorsese and Mani Ratnam probably lies in the treatment of Howard Hughes' censor board and senate hearings in The Aviator vis-a-vis the judicial one in Guru.
