From Secrets of ‘South Park’ on ABC News,

Out of all the ridiculous religion stories — which are greatly, wonderfully ridiculous — the silliest one I’ve ever heard is, ‘Yeah, there’s this big, giant universe and it’s expanding and it’s all going to collapse on itself and we’re all just here, just ‘cuz. Just ‘cuz. That to me, is the most ridiculous explanation ever

Trey Parker, Co-Creator of South Park

was watching a random parker-stone interview ( 1 | 2 ) on nightline. parker nicely wraps up the whole atheism funda. get ready for a big atheism episode on SP!

Atheism, as described by Parker, is just another belief system, no more or less ridiculous than any religion. What Parker misses out on is the rationale that motivates a belief. Many atheists expend a lot of thought before making up their mind, while many religions discourage followers to question their basic tenets. I am not anti-anti-atheism (quadruple negative!), but any conclusion based on an intelligent thought process, including atheism, deserves due consideration and respect.

dude! read again, as described by Parker, the *silliest* story is the Atheism story… not “no more or less ridiculous” than other religion stories

also considering atheism to be on equal footing with other religions, SP is known for taking shots at most major religious beliefs prevalent in America (and around the world) Catholicism, Judaism, the Mormon faith, Islam, and of course Scientology. no reason why Atheism should be left out.
